Import artwork onto the canvas from File → Import… or the Import icon under Tools. Supported formats: SVG, DXF, AI, PNG, JPG, JPEG, TIF, TIFF, WEBP, GIF
On import
- Artwork is added to the active layer and centered on the canvas.
- No import sidebar — edit and run from the right-hand Laser operations panel.
- GPath creates a starting operation automatically (see below).
Auto-generated operations
Each import gets one operation in Laser operations. You can rename it, change settings, add more operations, or delete it.
Vector files (SVG, DXF, AI, …)
Creates a Line operation that follows every path in the file — a ready-made outline engrave.
- Adjust power, speed, and passes in the sidebar.
- To fill shapes, add a separate Fill operation and select the vectors you want filled.
- Deselect paths on the canvas or in Design → Vectors if you only want part of the artwork cut or engraved.
Raster images (PNG, JPG, …)
Creates an Image operation. The bitmap is engraved by scanning row by row, laser power follows each pixel’s brightness.
Image settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Gamma (0.1–5, default 1.0) | Tone curve before power is applied. Higher = lighter midtones, more contrast. Lower = darker, flatter result. |
| Invert (white burns) | Off: dark burns, light skips (normal). On: light burns, dark skips (inverted / relief-style art). |
| White threshold (%) (0–25, default 12) | Drops very faint burns so white backgrounds and anti-aliased edges don’t leave a grey haze. Lower (~4%) keeps more midtones, raise for noisy backgrounds. |
| Shared settings (same as other laser operations): Power (%), Dynamic power (M4), engraving speed, passes, and air assist. Kerf has no effect on image engraves — leave at 0. |

Tips
- SVG: Check Design → Vectors for hidden layers or hairline strokes.
- Broken paths: Use Join on fragmented SVG geometry.
- Photos vs logos: Logos on white backgrounds often work well with the default white threshold, continuous-tone photos may need a lower threshold or gamma tweak after a test burn.
