1. Open the tool

In the left toolbar under Draw, click Square. The right sidebar opens a New Square form and a live preview appears on the 2D Drawing canvas, centred on your stock by default.

2. Right sidebar — New Square

Position

Field Description
X Horizontal centre of the rectangle (project units)
Y Vertical centre of the rectangle

Defaults place the shape at the material centre.

Size

Field Description
Width Full width of the rectangle
Height Full height of the rectangle

For a 100 mm stock, defaults are typically 50 × 50 mm; inch projects use proportional values (e.g. 2 × 2 in on 4 in stock).

Corner Radius

Use the visual corner picker or numeric fields for each corner (top-left, top-right, bottom-right, bottom-left). Enable Set Individual Corners when corners need different radii.

Internal Corners — when checked, fillets curve inward (useful for inside pockets and nested parts). For cutter clearance on sharp inside corners, use the Fillet tool with Dogbone or T-bone types instead.

Corner radii are clamped so they cannot exceed what the rectangle geometry allows. Per-corner radius here is separate from the Fillet tool, which can be applied after the square is saved.

Rotation

Field Description
Angle (degrees) Rotates the square about its centre

3. Save or cancel

  • Save Changes (or Enter) — commits the square to the active layer.
  • Cancel — discards the preview without adding a shape.

After saving, the shape appears in the Design tab and can be used for profile, pocket, or drill toolpaths.

4. Editing an existing square

Click a square on the canvas to open Edit Square in the right sidebar. Additional fields:

Field Description
Name Layer-list label for the shape

Delete removes the shape and updates any linked toolpaths.
